I currently live in Adelaide with my lovely partner Vania. As well as taking photos locally, I regularly travel all over Australia taking photographs. Sometimes Vania accompanies me and we sight-see the area that I am photographing.
I have decades of experience as a photographer and many clients. I pride myself in delivering quality work and exceeding clients’ expectations. I work hard to ensure I have the skills and current professional Canon equipment to provide all my clients with the best products I can produce.
I grew up in Whyalla and started my working life as an apprentice mechanic.
Initially, I worked as a mechanic at several car franchises in Whyalla and an independent mechanical repair business called McKeough Motors. It was with John McKeough that my interest in photography took a big step forward. John’s incredible knowledge and passion for photography served as a great source of knowledge for me. John was a photographer regularly shooting both motion and still images for the ABC. John did everything from designing bits for his equipment and developing his own film, to printing his own prints. He was an inspiration and great teacher.
I owned and operated my own tow truck for a few years prior to the towing industry becoming regulated.
In the 1990s, I owned and managed a pet shop in Whyalla.
I worked at a hydraulic/fabrication business called Action Engineering in Whyalla as a fitter. I progressed up through positions of foreman, site supervisor, operations manager, business development manager. The business was sold and I moved on to become commercial business manager with Caltex South East and later B2B Manager with Caltex. While working with Caltex I was growing my part-time photography business. However, I recently left Caltex to pursue my passion as a full-time freelance photographer.
My time at Action Engineering and Caltex Australia instilled in me an extremely high awareness of safety procedures, deadlines, quality assurance and professionalism. Bob Gloyn Photography is an Australian-registered business. I have a strong belief in doing the job correctly and safely.
It is this combination of different working roles that has provided me the skills to conduct myself in situations from small operations to the corporate meeting rooms. I am comfortable working as a photographer in situations ranging from the simplest of shoots right through to the most difficult. I enjoy the small individual shoots, small workshops shoots, offices and outdoors as much as the large gatherings of people in conferences or weddings.
I support the Adelaide Crows in the AFL, and I am a keen Motorsport follower. Although I am a Holden fan I support all makes and models while enjoying competitive racing. I love taking unique photographs and always look for a new angle or something exciting to bring into the photo. I enjoy an occasional glass of alcohol at the end of the day.
I also love my morning coffee. I enjoy meeting people and going to events. I enjoy spending time talking with clients and finding out what type of images excite them. I work hard, I enjoy life and I love the opportunities and challenges I am given to photograph events. I look forward to working with you soon.
